Warriors Starting XI Named for Tonight’s International Friendly

Zimbabwe have confirmed their starting lineup for tonight’s international friendly against Qatar at the Al Duhail Sports Centre, with kick-off set for 6:30 PM CAT.

Elvis Chipezeze starts in goal, while the defensive unit features  Jalai, Munashe Garananga, Teenage Hadebe and Sean Fusire. Daniel Msendami and Princee Dube support a midfield led by captain Marvelous Nakamba, with Gerald Murwira, Divine Lunga and Johnah Fabisch completing the XI.

Squad Update
Tawanda Chirewa has now departed the camp after Thursday’s match, as per an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers that allowed him to play only the Algeria fixture before returning to England.

Brendan Galloway, who suffered a facial injury in the Algeria game, has taken part in training but misses the match.

Opposition News
Qatar coach Julen Lopetegui has opted for a youthful squad tonight, choosing to rest several senior players. Notable absentees include Akram Afif, Almoez Ali, Boualem Khoukhi, Karim Boudiaf, Pedro Miguel, Edmilson Junior and Abdulaziz Hatem—an indication that Qatar may use this fixture to test depth before their next competitive assignments.

Coaches’ Remarks
Warriors coach Marian Marinica said:
“We must select the most in-form players at this point in time to take us to AFCON and achieve what we want. The country has to be behind us, and the players must accept that, at the end of the day, we are here for them and they are all going to become the heroes.”
