Zimbabwe Warriors Prospect Isaac Mabaya Returns from Injury in Liverpool U21’s Clash Against Everton

Zimbabwe Warriors prospect and Liverpool academy defender Isaac Mabaya made his long-awaited return to action after six months, appearing in Liverpool U21’s Premier League 2 match against Everton U21 on Saturday.

The England-born Mabaya entered as a substitute in the 65th minute, delivering an energetic performance at right-back. This marked the 20-year-old’s first game since he sustained an injury in Liverpool U21’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United U21 at Old Trafford in April.

Reflecting on Mabaya’s comeback, Liverpool U21s coach Barry Lewtas, as quoted by the Echo, expressed his enthusiasm:

“It was really good to see Isaac back. He has been training for a while, and it was important to get him back and give him some game minutes. He’s been working tirelessly and was a real threat when he came on, linking up well with Kieran. It’s great to have him back.”

Before his return to competitive action, Mabaya had the opportunity to train with Liverpool’s senior team under new head coach Arne Slot in preparation for the team’s upcoming clash against Chelsea.
