Munetsi Injury Scare Rocks Warriors Camp Ahead of AFCON
The Warriors have been dealt an untimely blow after vice-captain Marshall Munetsi suffered a calf injury just two weeks before the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Reports from England indicate that the Zimbabwean midfielder picked up the knock shortly after coming on as an 85th-minute substitute in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ midweek clash against Sheffield Wednesday.
Wolves manager Rob Edwards confirmed the setback during his Friday press conference, revealing that Munetsi is now a doubt for Monday’s Premier League encounter against Manchester United.
However, the full severity of the injury is yet to be determined, leaving both club and country anxious as assessments continue.
Munetsi has been named in the Warriors’ provisional squad for AFCON 2025 in Morocco, where Zimbabwe open their Group B campaign on December 22 against Egypt. The national team will hope the influential midfielder recovers in time, with final squad decisions looming.
