Zim Warriors Weekend Round-Up: Machope, Hadebe, Garananga, Maswanhise Shine

ZimbabweWarriorsZone brings you the latest round-up of how our Warriors performed for their clubs this past weekend. From England to Scotland, Denmark, Belgium, the United States and back home in the Zimbabwe PSL, we track every performance. Here’s how the boys fared.

In the English Premier League, Marshall Munetsi completed the full 90 minutes for Wolves in their 4–0 home defeat to Manchester City. The midfielder registered one shot on target and another inside the box, while also having a headed goal disallowed for offside. He made 25 touches, committed three offsides, and earned a rating of 6.0. Fellow Warriors Tawanda Chirewa and Ethan Sutherland were not included in the matchday squad. Trey Nyoni was an unused substitute for Liverpool in their 4–2 win over Bournemouth in the season opener.

In the Championship, new Warriors midfielder Sean Fusire started for Sheffield Wednesday in their 3–0 home loss to Stoke City. Operating on the right side of midfield, Fusire played 65 minutes before being substituted. He managed 29 touches but was also at fault for an error leading to a goal, finishing with a 5.9 rating.

In the Scottish League Cup, Tawanda Maswanhise’s Motherwell booked their place in the next round after a 1–0 extra-time victory away at St Johnstone. Maswanhise featured for 78 minutes in a goalless stalemate before being replaced, with the winning goal coming in extra time.

Across the Atlantic in MLS, Warriors defender Teenage Hadebe came off the bench in the 78th minute for Cincinnati in their 3–2 win away at Portland Timbers. He received a 7.2 rating for his contribution.

In Belgium, Bill Antonio’s KV Mechelen drew 1–1 at home against Gent. Antonio was introduced in the 59th minute following an injury to a teammate and went on to complete 32 minutes. He managed 14 touches and was rated 5.9.

In Denmark, Warriors defender Munashe Garananga helped FC Copenhagen to a 3–1 away win over Nordsjaelland in a Friday afternoon top-flight clash. Garan’anga played the entire 90 minutes, making 69 touches, picking up a yellow card, and earning a 7.0 rating.

Back in England’s League One, Warriors defenders Brendan Galloway and Tendayi Darikwa faced each other as Lincoln City hosted Plymouth. The match ended 3–2 in favour of Lincoln, captained by Darikwa. Galloway, introduced at half-time, played 45 minutes, completed 45 touches, and picked up a yellow card, finishing with a 6.9 rating. Darikwa featured for the full 90 minutes, also received a booking, made 45 touches, and was rated 7.1.

In Wales, highly rated youngster Tanatswa Nyakuhwa was an unused substitute for Cardiff City in their 3–0 home win against Rotherham in League One.

In the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League, Warrior forward Tymon Machope scored twice for Scottland FC in their 2–1 victory over ZPC Kariba in a Week 25 fixture played in Harare. Scottland FC fielded several Warriors players, including the Musona brothers, Khama Billiat, Terrence Dzvukamanja, and Godknows Murwira.

Meanwhile, midfield duo Marvelous Nakamba and Andy Rinomhota did not feature this weekend as they continue their search for new clubs across England’s divisions.
