ZIFA President Attends CAF 47th Ordinary General Assembly in Kinshasa

Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) President Nqobile Magwizi today represented the nation at the 47th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) held in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.

He was accompanied by the Association’s Vice-President, Loveness Mukura, and General Secretary, Yvonne Manwa.

The high-level gathering, chaired by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, brought together presidents of all 54 CAF Member Associations, representatives from the six Zonal Unions, and senior football administrators from across the continent.

The Ordinary General Assembly serves as CAF’s highest decision-making body, reviewing key developments in African football, adopting strategic frameworks for the coming year, and deliberating on governance, competitions, and development matters shaping the future of the game.

Speaking after the session, ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi emphasised the importance of Zimbabwe’s participation at this level, saying:

“Zimbabwe’s presence at the CAF Congress reflects our renewed commitment to active engagement in continental and global football affairs.

“We are steadily reintegrating into the international football community, ensuring that our voice, ideas, and ambitions contribute to the growth of the game both at home and across Africa.”

Zimbabwe’s involvement in the CAF Congress underscores the Association’s efforts to rebuild strong relationships with regional and international football bodies following a period of isolation.

It also represents a key step in aligning the nation’s football administration with best practices in governance, technical development, and competition management.

The ZIFA delegation will continue to engage with fellow Member Associations and CAF officials on areas of mutual cooperation, capacity building, and the advancement of football development programmes aimed at strengthening the sport at all levels in Zimbabwe.

The 47th CAF Ordinary General Assembly forms part of ongoing efforts by African football leaders to consolidate progress, enhance transparency, and elevate the global competitiveness of the African game.
