The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has unveiled a bold new fan mobilisation campaign titled “Go Warriors Fans”, designed to unite the nation behind the senior men’s football team ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to take place in Morocco this December.
The initiative was launched on Tuesday in Harare during a public screening of Zimbabwe’s COSAFA Cup match against Mozambique. ZIFA President Mr. Nqobile Magwizi led the announcement, urging Zimbabweans at home and abroad to rally behind the Warriors as they prepare for their historic AFCON campaign.
“We need as many Zimbabweans as possible in Morocco to support the Warriors. The 12th man is crucial to our success—it’s about unity and national pride,” said Magwizi.
He encouraged fans to begin preparing now for the tournament rather than waiting until the last minute, revealing that ZIFA has created a dedicated platform to assist supporters who wish to travel to Morocco and be part of the experience.
“I believe the Warriors are poised for a remarkable showing. Let’s support them with everything we’ve got,” he added.
But the “Go Warriors Fans” campaign is not limited to international travel. ZIFA also announced plans to extend the initiative across Zimbabwe through the creation of fan parks in rural and urban communities, allowing fans from all corners of the country to engage with the tournament in real time.
ZIFA General Secretary Yvonne Mapika Manwa underscored the importance of including grassroots communities in the national football narrative.
“Rural communities are a vital part of our national support structure. That’s why we’re prioritising the creation of fan parks in those areas—so they, too, can feel part of the AFCON experience,” said Manwa.
Vice Chairperson of the AFCON Committee, Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa, stressed the importance of inclusivity in sports development and national mobilisation.
“Football is the people’s game. As a committee, our mission is to bring football back to the people. We are committed to decentralising access and ensuring that every Zimbabwean—regardless of age, gender, or background—feels part of this journey,” she said.
“Let the whole nation unite and chant ‘AFCON Go Warriors, Go!’ This campaign is for everyone.”
Zimbabwe has previously qualified for five AFCON tournaments but has yet to progress beyond the group stages. With the “Go Warriors Fans” campaign, ZIFA hopes to not only inspire the team on the pitch but also ignite a new era of fan engagement and national pride.
