The Zimbabwe national team is set to host Eswatini in their first-round tie of the 2024 CHAN Qualifiers at Obedi Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown, Botswana. The home leg is scheduled for Sunday, 27 October, with a 3 pm CAT kick-off.
Due to venue unavailability in Zimbabwe, the locally-based Warriors will use the Botswana stadium to face Eswatini. The squad for this fixture consists primarily of U20 and U23 players, highlighting a focus on nurturing emerging talent. The team’s preparations are set to begin in Harare on Tuesday, before traveling to Botswana ahead of the crucial encounter.
Assistant coach Takesure Chiragwi will lead the Warriors for this fixture. The winner of the two-legged tie will advance to the second round to face Madagascar, who received a bye in the opening round. A victory against Madagascar would secure a spot in the CHAN finals, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from 1-28 February 2025.
