Zimbabwe’s national football team has suffered a significant slump in the latest FIFA world rankings, dropping nine places after a disappointing international window.
The Warriors endured back-to-back 1-0 defeats during the recent FIFA break — first against Benin and then Rwanda — results that sealed their elimination from the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Consequently, Zimbabwe has slid from 116th to 125th in the global standings, now sitting on 1,135 points. On the African chart, the Warriors occupy 35th position.
At the other end of the table, Spain have climbed to the summit of world football, while Morocco continue to lead the pack on the continent.
Current Top 10 — World: Spain, France, Argentina, England, Portugal, Brazil, Netherlands, Belgium, Croatia, Italy.
Current Top 10 — Africa: Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Tunisia, Cameroon, South Africa, Mali.
Our Zim Warriors team will start clicking with confidence when they are playing before their home fans in their country. We need to know our players as we did in the good old days.
Very true, its a matter of time before we start getting better results. The FIFA ban also played a big part.
