Warriors Number 1 Washington Arubi Hails Team Effort After Gallants’ Win Over Pirates

Marumo Gallants goalkeeper Washington Arubi has praised his side’s collective effort following their 2-1 victory over Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday.

Goals from Zimbabwean forward Daniel Msendami and Jaisen Clifford secured the win, while Arubi delivered a standout performance between the posts, making six saves — most of them in a busy second half — to preserve Gallants’ lead.

Speaking to KickOff.com after the match, the Warriors shot-stopper said:

“It was a tough game, but at least I managed to perform and help my team grab three points.

The win means a lot. In this league, it’s very important to collect points as early as possible in the season — it helps build momentum.

As for yesterday’s game, we sat down, talked, and planned well. We told the boys that we needed to carry on from what happened in Durban and to believe. It helped that we managed to come away with three points.”

The result lifted Marumo Gallants to the top of the table with six points from their opening two matches.
