Seshego, South Africa – Wednesday Night — Zimbabwe internationals Divine Lunga and Elvis Chipezeze were both on show in the Betway Premiership as Mamelodi Sundowns secured a 2-0 victory over Magesi FC at the Seshego Stadium.
Goals from Jayden Adams (73’) and Peter Shalulile (87’) handed the reigning champions back-to-back league wins, but the match also highlighted contrasting fortunes for the Warriors duo.
Lunga Shines at Left-Back
Starting for Sundowns, Devine Lunga produced a composed display on the flank and was later named Man of the Match.
The defender was heavily involved in build-up play, recording 76 touches and completing 64 of his 70 passes (91% accuracy). He also showed his defensive qualities with four clearances, one successful tackle, and participation in eight duels.
Although not directly involved in the goals, Lunga’s work rate and positional discipline gave Sundowns balance on the left side, earning him the highest rating on the pitch (6.9).
Tough Night for Chipezeze
On the opposite end, Elvis Chipezeze endured a difficult evening in goal for Magesi. Despite making one save and completing a couple of key interventions, he was unable to prevent Sundowns from finding the back of the net twice in the second half.
Statistically, Chipezeze finished with a rating of 5.8, conceding two goals from an expected goals on target (xGOT) of 1.34, meaning he prevented fewer goals than expected. His distribution was also under pressure, completing only 6 of 14 passes (43%).
