Police have confirmed that two people died in a road accident involving former Warriors striker, Alois Bunjira, on Saturday morning in Rusape, Manicaland.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi stated that the crash happened around 10:00 am on August 16, 2025, along the Rusape–Nyanga road.
According to police, an Isuzu pickup truck carrying three passengers attempted to overtake a bus and collided head-on with an oncoming BMW driven by Bunjira, who had one passenger with him. The accident claimed the lives of two people from the Isuzu, while three others sustained injuries.
The deceased were taken to Rusape General Hospital mortuary, and the injured are receiving treatment at the same hospital.
At the time of publishing, Bunjira’s exact condition had not yet been independently verified.
Bunjira, who is also CAPS United’s marketing manager and a football commentator, was reportedly on his way to his rural home in Honde Valley to assess a route for the Honde Valley Marathon, which serves as a qualifier for the Comrades Marathon.
