Tino Kadewere Joins Greek Side Aris Thessaloniki on Free Transfer: Full Report

Zimbabwe Warriors striker Tino Kadewere has completed a move to Greek Super League club Aris Thessaloniki following the expiry of his contract with French Ligue 1 side FC Nantes.

The 29-year-old underwent medicals on Monday before signing a contract initially reported as a two-year deal, though Aris later confirmed it as a three-year agreement.

Kadewere’s transfer marks the latest chapter in a European journey that has taken him from Sweden to France and Spain. Speaking after the move, he shared his delight at the warm welcome received in Greece:

“I am truly overwhelmed by the love I have received from the people of Aris in these first days and I am very happy to now belong to this team. We have very good players, and I’ve come to contribute and help us reach our goals in the new season.”

A graduate of Prince Edward School in Harare, Kadewere began his professional career at Harare City before moving to Sweden in the 2015–16 season to join Djurgårdens IF. He made 60 appearances for the club, scored 18 goals, and helped them lift the Svenska Cupen.

In 2018, he signed with French Ligue 2 side Le Havre for €2 million. After a solid debut campaign, he lit up the league in his second season, scoring 20 goals in 24 games to finish as Ligue 2’s top scorer.

His form earned him a €12 million move to Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyonnais in 2020. Kadewere spent two full seasons with Lyon, registering 11 goals in 53 appearances before heading to Spain on loan with RCD Mallorca for the 2022–23 campaign.

He returned to France in January 2024, joining Nantes initially on loan before making the switch permanent. During the 2023–24 season, he made 14 appearances across Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

On the international stage, Kadewere has been a part of the Zimbabwe national team since 2015, earning 19 caps and scoring three goals.

Aris Thessaloniki—one of Greece’s most storied clubs—will be counting on Kadewere’s experience and versatility to boost their attacking options as they prepare for both domestic and European competitions in the upcoming season.
