Sean Fusire Scores as Sheffield Wednesday Endure Administration Woes

Zimbabwe midfielder Sean Fusire scored his first senior goal for Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, offering a glimmer of hope to fans during one of the darkest weeks in the club’s history.

The 20-year-old midfielder found the net in the 53rd minute of their 2–1 home defeat to Oxford United at Hillsborough — just a day after the club was docked 12 points by the English Football League (EFL) for entering administration.

Fusire pounced on a loose ball inside the box and fired past goalkeeper Jamie Cumming to halve the deficit, sparking renewed energy from the 27,000-plus home supporters.
Although the comeback fell short, the goal was a significant personal milestone for the Warriors player — and it couldn’t have come at a more dramatic time for the Owls, now bottom of the Championship on -6 points.
