Rwanda’s Amrouche: Facing Musona Is Every Coach’s Fear

Johannesburg — Rwanda coach Adel Amrouche has revealed that the inclusion of Knowledge Musona in Zimbabwe’s squad gave him sleepless nights ahead of their World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

Musona, long regarded as one of the Warriors’ most decisive players, started the match in an unusual midfield role rather than his traditional forward position. He completed the full 90 minutes as Zimbabwe fell 1-0 to the Amavubi in their final Group C fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

Amrouche admitted he feared the 34-year-old veteran could produce a decisive moment at any stage of the contest.

“When I saw Knowledge Musona on the pitch, I couldn’t sleep because I know that man can make the difference at any time,” he said.
“I was happy when I saw him playing a bit deeper.”

The Rwandan coach added that Zimbabwe’s squad remains one of the most dangerous in African football, despite their struggles in the qualifiers.

“When you play Zimbabwe, with all the individual quality they have, it’s always something to be afraid of. And Knowledge, for me, is the best individual player on the continent.”

Amrouche, however, praised his own players for executing their tactical plan to perfection and closing out the game to secure a valuable win.
