Owls Hit by Fresh Setbacks with Sean Fusire Out Six Weeks

Sheffield Wednesday’s injury crisis has deepened further with defenders Sean Fusire and Yisa Alao added to a growing list of absentees ahead of tonight’s Championship clash.

Zimbabwe international Sean Fusire is set for a spell on the sidelines of around six weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury, according to BBC Radio Sheffield’s Andy Giddings. The setback is a blow for the Owls, who have already been stretched thin at the back in recent weeks.

Teenage left-back Yisa Alao is also facing time out, with early indications suggesting he could miss up to three weeks. Alao was forced off shortly after the hour mark during Saturday’s narrow 1–0 defeat to Portsmouth, although the exact nature of his injury has not yet been confirmed.

The latest blows mean Sheffield Wednesday are now without 14 first-team players as they prepare to host Birmingham City at Hillsborough tonight, compounding the selection headache for the coaching staff in a demanding Championship schedule.
