Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) president Nqobile Magwizi has revealed that the process to appoint a new Warriors head coach is already in motion, following the sacking of Michael Nees on Wednesday.
Nees was dismissed after a run of disappointing results, despite successfully leading Zimbabwe to qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Magwizi confirmed that ZIFA has begun laying the groundwork for a smooth and transparent recruitment process.
“The process to appoint a new coach is underway. A committee has been tasked to develop a clear roadmap and define the key attributes we want in the next Warriors coach,” Magwizi said.
He added that the framework will be completed within three days, after which shortlisted candidates will present their proposals before the executive committee makes a final decision.
The new coach is expected to be unveiled before Zimbabwe’s November international window, which includes friendlies against World Cup-bound sides Qatar and Algeria.
