Musona Released by Al-Okhdood as Club Reshapes Squad

Knowledge Musona’s stint at Al-Okhdood has come to an end after the club opted not to renew the 35-year-old’s contract.

Musona, who joined the Saudi Pro League side last season, was released as part of a broader restructuring strategy aimed at revamping the club’s foreign player roster following a narrow escape from relegation.

According to Asharq Al-Awsat, the decision reflects Al-Okhdood’s intent to bring in new international signings who align more closely with their evolving tactical vision.

The Zimbabwean international was among seven foreign players released by the club, alongside Savior Godwin (Nigeria), Ousmane Barry (Guinea), Damion Lowe (Jamaica), and Brazilian trio Paulo Vitor, Petros Matheus, and Diego Souza.

Although Musona was reportedly in contract negotiations with the club after the season ended, the two parties failed to reach an agreement.

His departure comes despite playing a key role in helping Al-Okhdood retain their top-flight status during the 2023/24 campaign.
