Muskwe Fades from Warriors Picture as Zimbabwe Turns to New UK-Born Talent

The Forgotten Warrior: Admiral Muskwe Leaves Club After Injury-Hit Spell

Forgotten Zimbabwean Warriors forward Admiral Muskwe has ended his stint with Finnish side IFK Mariehamn after his contract was terminated by mutual consent at his own request.

The 26-year-old joined the Veikkausliiga club in January but endured an injury-plagued campaign that limited his impact. He made just seven league appearances—only one of them a start—and recorded a single assist.

In a statement, IFK Mariehamn confirmed the departure, saying:

“IFK Mariehamn and striker Admiral Muskwe have mutually agreed to terminate his contract, at Admiral’s own request. Admiral has been plagued by injuries during his time at the club and has therefore not been able to show his full potential or take the place in the squad that he had hoped for. We thank Admiral for his time at IFK Mariehamn and wish him good luck in his continued career.”

Admiral Muskwe, who progressed through the youth systems at Leicester City and Luton Town, last featured for the Warriors on 15 November 2023 in a FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in Kigali(see lineup below). His outing was cut short after just 23 minutes due to injury, forcing his replacement by Terrence Dzvukamanja. A week later, he was an unused substitute when Zimbabwe drew 1-1 with Nigeria in Rwanda in the same competition.

Since that appearance in late 2023, Muskwe’s game time has been limited — largely due to recurring injuries. A breakdown of his recent minutes at club level highlights the struggle:

09.08.25 – 28′

26.07.25 – 11′

18.06.25 – 46′

14.06.25 – 17′

28.05.25 – 15′

24.05.25 – 14′

19.04.25 – 45′

12.04.25 – 18′

03.12.24 – 33′

Between 2024 and 2025, Muskwe accumulated just 227 minutes across eight appearances. His average match rating over those games was 6.9, suggesting that while his performances showed glimpses of quality, consistent form was hampered by his fitness issues.

Zimbabwe Shifts Focus to UK-Born Stars as Muskwe’s Warriors Future Fades

Now that he is club hunting again, it is unlikely in the near future that he will feature for the Warriors. With a new wave of exciting UK-born youngsters choosing to represent the country of their parents’ birth, Leicester-born forward Admiral Muskwe has quickly faded from the spotlight — reduced to a mere footnote in the rapidly shifting landscape of Zimbabwean football. He is name is no longer making news headlines as the football crazy nation search hunt for talented English born Zimbabweans who can transform the Warriors into continental football heavyweights.
