Scottland FC striker Tymon Machope has received a late call-up to the Zimbabwe Warriors squad for the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda. He replaces midfielder Jonah Fabisch, who has been ruled out through injury.
Machope’s inclusion caps a strong run of form for the 23-year-old, who has been central to Scottland’s push for a historic Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title. Known for his aerial presence and sharp finishing, he has struck 12 times this season, often delivering when his Mabvuku-based side needed goals most.
The forward first broke into the Premiership with Simba Bhora in July 2023, scoring seven goals in his debut campaign to help the club avoid relegation. Though his second season began slowly, Machope silenced doubters with a blistering finish — netting 11 times and driving Simba Bhora to a shock league title.
After moving to Scottland in 2025, history seemed to repeat itself. A sluggish start brought just five goals from his first 22 appearances. But Machope has since rediscovered his rhythm, rediscovering the scoring touch that has made him one of the league’s standout performers.
Speaking on his resurgence, Machope said confidence is everything for a striker:
“As a striker, you motivate yourself. When you score, you get more confident. I just want to keep on scoring and hopefully reach hundreds.”
At Scottland, Machope has had to compete for a starting spot against seasoned names, with the club boosting its attack through Warriors icons Knowledge Musona and Terrence Dzvukamanja, as well as Malawian international Khuda Myaba. Despite this fierce competition, his current form has made him impossible to ignore — and now earns him a deserved chance on the international stage.
