Marshall Munetsi Ruled Out of AFCON 2025 After Calf Injury

Zimbabwe have suffered a major blow ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with midfielder Marshall Munetsi set to miss the tournament after sustaining a calf injury last week.

Munetsi picked up the knock shortly after coming on as an 85th-minute substitute during Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest. What initially appeared minor has now been confirmed as a significant setback.

Wolves manager Rob Edwards revealed after Monday’s 4–1 defeat to Manchester United that the injury is expected to sideline Munetsi for at least six weeks — well beyond the AFCON start date of 21 December.

“It’ll be weeks. I don’t know how many at the moment, but it’s looking like at least six weeks,” Edwards told The Express & Star.

With the tournament less than two weeks away, the timeline rules Munetsi out completely, denying the Warriors one of their most influential and experienced players.
