Zimbabwean international Macauley Bonne has hinted at a possible return to the Warriors fold.
The forward, who last featured during a tricky period involving delays in the release of his passport, now appears open to wearing the national colours again.
His possible return which he announced while speaking to ZIGoats, would boost Zimbabwe’s attacking options ahead of key international assignments.
After several months in limbo since leaving Southend United, Zimbabwe Warriors forward Bonne returned to action — signing for Maldon & Tiptree FC on 11 October 2025.
Bonne’s stint at Southend United ended earlier this year after 43 appearances and 5 goals, with flashes of his old sharpness overshadowed by inconsistency in a challenging campaign.
His move reignites hopes among Warriors supporters, many of whom believe his experience and finishing could bolster Zimbabwe’s attack as the team looks ahead to the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
Regular football in England’s lower leagues may just be the platform Bonne needs to rebuild form — and perhaps earn a national team recall.
The 29-year-old former Leyton Orient, Charlton, QPR and Gillingham player scored five goals for the Shrimpers last season to help them reach the National League play-off final.
In August 2014, Bonne made himself available for selection by Zimbabwe in a 2016 Olympic qualifier match.
He got his first Zimbabwean cap in November 2014 when the Young Warriors played against Morocco in a friendly match that they lost 2-1.
Bonne scored the only goal on his début.
Bonne got his first senior team cap in August 2015 when he was named by Callisto Pasuwa in the Zimbabwe Warriors provisional squad for an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea.
