After several months in limbo since leaving Southend United, Zimbabwe Warriors forward Macauley Bonne has returned to action — signing for Maldon & Tiptree FC on 11 October 2025.
The 29-year-old striker joins the Isthmian League North Division outfit, marking a new chapter in a career that has seen him turn out for Colchester United, Leyton Orient, Charlton Athletic, QPR, Gillingham, and Cambridge United.
Bonne’s stint at Southend United ended earlier this year after 43 appearances and 5 goals, with flashes of his old sharpness overshadowed by inconsistency in a challenging campaign.
His move reignites hopes among Warriors supporters, many of whom believe his experience and finishing could bolster Zimbabwe’s attack as the team looks ahead to the AFCON 2025 qualifiers. Regular football in England’s lower leagues may just be the platform Bonne needs to rebuild form — and perhaps earn a national team recall.
