Knowledge Musona Eyes Retirement at Home After Joining Scottland FC

Knowledge Musona has announced plans to end his professional football career in Zimbabwe, following his move to Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Scottland FC over the weekend.

The 35-year-old former Warriors captain returns home after a 17-year career abroad, having started his professional journey at South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs before going on to play in the German Bundesliga, Belgian Pro League, and most recently, the Saudi Pro League.

Despite his lengthy international career, this marks Musona’s first stint in Zimbabwe’s top-flight league.

Musona joined Scottland FC after parting ways with Al-Okhdood at the end of June, when his contract was not renewed. He now looks to close out his playing days on home soil.

Speaking to the club’s media team, Musona shared his excitement:

“It feels great to join Scottland, and I’m looking forward to this opportunity to come back home and play the final years of my career.

I’ve been playing internationally for the past seventeen years, and as I wind down, I felt it was the right time to return and experience football in Zimbabwe — especially since I’ve never played in the local top-flight before. I think it’s the perfect time to enjoy my last years of football at home.”

While he hasn’t set a definite retirement date, Musona said he intends to keep playing as long as he remains fit.
