Kaitano Tembo Breaks Silence, Responds to Reports Linking Him to Warriors Post

Tembo Reflects on Warriors Role Amid Head Coach Speculation

Warriors assistant coach Kaitano Tembo has broken his silence on his recent involvement with the Zimbabwe national team, where he served as part of the technical bench during the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Lesotho.

Tembo, who worked alongside now-dismissed head coach Michael Nees, is among the front-runners to take over the Warriors hot seat ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Speaking about his national team experience, the 55-year-old tactician said it was an honour to contribute to the Warriors setup.

“It’s always good to be in that environment. You always learn when you work at a different level as well,” Tembo said.
“For me, it’s important not to cage myself. I want to spread my wings and keep learning. I also appreciate Sekhukhune United for giving me that opportunity.”

When asked about being linked to the Warriors’ head coach position, Tembo remained tight-lipped, saying only:

“No comment. For that, I can’t comment.”

Zimbabwe, drawn in Group B alongside Egypt, South Africa, and Angola, are expected to appoint a new head coach before their November friendlies as preparations intensify for the AFCON finals in December.
