Zim PSL Slaps Herentals FC with Heavy Sanctions After Violent Incidents at Rufaro Stadium
The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) has handed down severe sanctions to Herentals FC following violent incidents during their match against CAPS United at Rufaro Stadium on 13 September 2025.
The PSL Disciplinary Committee fined the club US$5,000, ordered them to play their next three home fixtures behind closed doors, and banned two security officials — Paradzai Afa and Tairos Ngoma — for three seasons from all football activities under PSL authority.
According to the PSL’s statement, Herentals pleaded guilty after one of the officials assaulted a fan in the VVIP section, while another attacked a police officer during post-match chaos.
The Committee noted that Herentals has become a repeat offender, with past disciplinary measures failing to curb violent behaviour. These new sanctions, effective from Matchday 32 starting with the home fixture against Yadah FC, are intended to enforce stricter accountability and protect the integrity of the league.
Summary:
Fine: US$5,000
Officials banned: Paradzai Afa & Tairos Ngoma (3 seasons)
Fans banned: Next 3 home matches behind closed doors
Effective from: Matchday 32 vs Yadah FC
Reason: Assault on fan and police officer, repeated misconduct by club officials.
