Former Warriors Midfielder Desmond Maringwa Elected FIFPRO Africa Vice-President

Footballers Union of Zimbabwe (FUZ) president Desmond Maringwa has been elected Vice-President of FIFPRO Africa.

The former Warriors and Dynamos midfielder was voted into the new post at the 19th FIFPRO Africa Congress, held in Cairo, Egypt, on Thursday.

Other board members include former Cameroon international Geremi Njitap, who retained the position of President, Teresa Caleb Ouko (Kenya), and Magdy Abdelghani (Egypt). The elections ushered in a new Africa Board for the 2025–2029 term.

Maringwa was first appointed to the FIFPRO Africa board in 2021. The former Dynamos midfielder, who holds a FIFA Diploma in Football Law, was also appointed in 2022 to the CAF Organising Committee for Interclub Competitions and the Management of the Club Licensing System. His mandate in that role concluded in 2024.
