Zimbabwean referee Brighton Chimene is in Egypt, where he is part of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) referees’ selection and preparation course ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals, which will be hosted by Morocco next month.
The 2025 AFCON referees selection course was running from the 8th to the 13th November 2025.
The selection course will see the best-performing referees being selected for the 2025 AFCON finals, which will be hosted by Morocco in December.
Apparently, Chimene was also the man in the middle for the headline clash between Senegal and Sudan at the CHAN finals tournament in East Africa last year.
This appointment is a proud moment for Zimbabwean football and a powerful statement of the growing recognition of our referees on the continental stage.
