FIFA President Infantino Mourns Zimbabwean Striker Tendai Ndoro

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has paid tribute to the late Tendai Ndoro, describing the former Zimbabwe international striker as a “legend of Zimbabwe football” whose influence will endure for generations.

In a condolence message sent to Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) president Nqobile Magwizi, Infantino reflected on Ndoro’s career and his impact on and off the pitch.

“I would like to express my sincerest and heartfelt condolences on the passing of former international player Tendai Ndoro. Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel for this loss,” Infantino wrote.

Ndoro, who represented the Warriors at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, earned regular caps for Zimbabwe and enjoyed a successful club career. He started out at Chicken Inn before moving to South Africa, where he starred for Mpumalanga Black Aces and Orlando Pirates. He later played in Saudi Arabia and Oman.

Infantino praised Ndoro not only for his talent and achievements but also for his character and leadership.

“Legend of Zimbabwe football, known for his talent and resilience, inspiration for many young footballers, his legacy and achievements, and in particular his personality, his leadership, his popularity and his human qualities will not be forgotten, and he will be truly missed,” he said.

The FIFA President extended his condolences to Ndoro’s family, friends, and the Zimbabwean football community:

“Our thoughts are with all of you. We hope that these memories and our words of support may help bring some peace and solace at this difficult time.”
