Teen Senegal Goalkeeper Found Dead After Being Lured by Fake Scouts in Ghana

The African football fraternity is reeling from shock following the death of 18-year-old Senegalese goalkeeper Cheikh Toure, who was discovered dead in Ghana after being duped by a fake football trial scheme.

According to verified reports seen by ZimbabweWarriorsZone.com, Toure had travelled from Senegal to Kumasi after receiving messages from individuals posing as scouts for a professional football club. Convinced the offer was genuine, the teenager embarked on the trip full of hope — but instead walked into a deadly trap.

Upon arrival, he was reportedly abducted by armed men who later demanded a ransom from his family. Unable to raise the money, the family was left devastated when Toure was killed by his captors.

Senegal’s Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs confirmed the tragedy in a public statement, revealing that investigations point to “a network involved in fraud and extortion.” His body was found at the Ebenezer Mortuary in Tafo, within Ghana’s Ashanti Region, around 250 km from Accra.

Officials from the Senegalese Embassy in Accra have since travelled to Kumasi to coordinate with Ghanaian authorities and assist with repatriation efforts.

“The Ministry expresses its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and assures them that the case is being followed with the utmost seriousness,” read part of the statement.

The heartbreaking death of Cheikh Toure underscores the growing threat of fake football agents and trial scams exploiting young African players chasing professional dreams abroad — a problem that continues to claim lives across the continent.
