CAF and COSAFA Leaders Arrive in Zimbabwe for U17 Championship

COSAFA Vice President Sahid Ali and CAF Vice President Feizal Sidat have arrived in Zimbabwe ahead of the 2025 COSAFA Under-17 Championship final, a regional AFCON qualifier set for Saturday.

The two dignitaries touched down at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on Thursday morning, where they were officially received by ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi and General Secretary Yvonne Manwa.

In a statement, ZIFA said:
“At Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, ZIFA President Mr. Nqobile Magwizi and General Secretary Ms. Yvonne Manwa proudly welcomed two distinguished football leaders: Mr. Feizal Sidat, President of the Mozambican Football Association and Vice President of CAF, and Mr. Sahid Ali, Vice President of COSAFA. They are in Zimbabwe to witness the COSAFA U17 Championship semifinals at Ngoni Mwos Stadium today, with the grand final set for Saturday. This historic occasion highlights Zimbabwe’s growing role in shaping the future of football in the region.”

The semifinals will be staged at Ngoni Mwos Stadium in Norton on Thursday, with South Africa facing Comoros in the early kick-off at 12:00 CAT, before Mozambique take on Angola at 15:00 CAT.

The two finalists will automatically qualify for the 2026 CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations, while the third ticket will go to the winner of the third-place playoff.
