The 69th edition of the Ballon d’Or takes place on Monday evening at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, with football’s brightest stars vying for the game’s most prestigious individual prizes.
Among the frontrunners are Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), who at just 18 has dazzled with maturity beyond his years, Raphinha (Barcelona) after a standout season in La Liga and Europe, and Ousmane Dembélé (Paris Saint-Germain), whose resurgence has seen him tipped for the ultimate accolade.
The ceremony will crown winners in several categories: the Men’s and Women’s Ballon d’Or, the Yashin Trophy for best goalkeeper, the Kopa Trophy for young stars, the Gerd Müller Trophy for top scorer, and Club of the Year awards.
For the first time, the awards are judged solely on the 2024–25 season rather than the calendar year, with criteria focusing on individual brilliance, team success, and fair play. An international panel of journalists — one from each of the top 100 FIFA-ranked nations for men and top 50 for women — will cast the votes.
