All Systems Go: Warriors Arrive in Morocco Ahead of AFCON Kick-Off

The Zimbabwe Warriors have touched down in Casablanca, Morocco, as they step up their build-up to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The continental showpiece kicks off on Sunday, 21 December, with Zimbabwe scheduled to begin their Group B campaign a day later.

The squad departed Harare on Tuesday afternoon after concluding a two-week residential training camp in the capital. Foreign-based players who were still on club duty over the weekend are expected to link up with the team directly in Morocco.

ZIFA confirmed the Warriors’ arrival in North Africa on Wednesday afternoon, highlighting a positive mood within the camp as preparations enter their final phase.

“The Zimbabwe Warriors have arrived safely in Casablanca, Morocco, in good spirits. The focus now shifts to acclimatisation and final preparations as the team sharpens its readiness for the AFCON challenge ahead,” ZIFA said in a statement.

The Warriors will be based at the Sofitel Hotel in Marrakech for the group stages of the tournament.

Warriors AFCON 2025 Group B fixtures

  • Zimbabwe vs Egypt – Monday, 22 December

  • Zimbabwe vs South Africa – Friday, 26 December

  • Zimbabwe vs Angola – Monday, 29 December

All three matches will be played in Morocco as Zimbabwe look to progress beyond the group stage and make a strong statement on the continental stage.
