Half-Time Report: Munetsi Strikes Again as Wolves Lead Brighton 1–0
Warriors vice-captain continues red-hot form ahead of South Africa and Lesotho clashes
Zimbabwe international Marshall Munetsi is on the scoresheet once more, giving Wolverhampton Wanderers a 1–0 lead over Brighton at the interval at Molineux.
The midfielder opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a thunderous volley from inside the box — a strike so powerful that Brighton keeper Bart Verbruggen could only tip it onto the crossbar before it bounced off him and into the net.
Though officially recorded as own goal, Wolves confirmed the goal as Munetsi’s on their official X (Twitter) account, posting:
“Half an hour down at Molineux
We lead through Marshall Munetsi’s volley. Vitor Pereira was sent off just before the goal.”“WHAT A STRIKE! Marshall Munetsi rockets a volley at goal from inside the box. Verbruggen tips it onto the bar, but it crashes back off him and rolls into the back of the net!” — @Wolves
Munetsi’s sharp form continues just days after he netted in the Carabao Cup against Everton. His confidence, composure, and leadership are peaking at the perfect time ahead of Zimbabwe’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa (10 Oct, Durban) and Lesotho (14 Oct, Mbombela).
Half-time: Wolves 1–0 Brighton (Munetsi 22’)
Munetsi rating so far: 7.6 — relentless, commanding, and clinical in front of goal
