Sharif Mussa Returns as Warriors General Manager

Veteran administrator rejoins national team setup after seven years

Sharif Mussa has officially rejoined the Zimbabwe national football team as the new general manager, marking his return to the Warriors fold for the first time since 2017.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) confirmed Mussa’s appointment, which sees the seasoned administrator back in a familiar role he held during several successful periods with the team — including the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Gabon, after which he resigned.

Under the new structure, Clemence Matawu will continue as team manager, overseeing the daily logistics and administration of the squad. Mussa, meanwhile, will focus on broader strategic operations, coordination with stakeholders, and providing executive support to the technical team.

A long-serving figure in Zimbabwean football, Mussa’s wealth of experience and institutional knowledge are seen as major assets as the Warriors prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and other forthcoming international campaigns.

His return has been widely welcomed within football circles, where he is respected for his professionalism, organisational skill, and deep commitment to the national cause.
