Zimbabwe National Team captain Marvelous Nakamba was absent as Luton Town kicked off their League One campaign against AFC Wimbledon on Friday.
Nakamba, who has been training separately from the main squad and did not feature in any pre-season friendlies, is widely expected to leave the club following their relegation from the Championship.
Luton boss Matt Bloomfield confirmed that there is interest in the 31-year-old midfielder from several top clubs, but the Hatters are waiting for the right deal.
His continued absence adds weight to speculation that Nakamba’s time at Kenilworth Road may be nearing its end.
