Marshall Munetsi set for Paris FC loan move

Wolves midfielder Marshall Munetsi is poised to join Paris FC on loan until the end of the season, with no option to buy included in the deal.

The 29-year-old has been cleared to leave by Wolves boss Rob Edwards, with the club concluding that Munetsi does not fit seamlessly into the head coach’s system. His opportunities have also been limited by the emergence of Mateus Mane.

Allowing Munetsi to depart on loan is seen as a move that helps preserve his market value and keeps Wolves’ options open for a potential permanent sale in the summer. The decision comes as Wolverhampton Wanderers brace for a relegation battle, currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League.

Munetsi has started just once under Edwards — the 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in November, which was the manager’s first game in charge. By contrast, he featured more prominently last season, starting 12 matches in the second half of the campaign under Vitor Pereira as Wolves finished 16th.

Signed from Stade de Reims for £16 million last February, Munetsi has made 31 appearances for Wolves, scoring four goals. His most recent strike came in October’s 3-2 defeat to Burnley.

Paris FC currently sit 15th in Ligue 1 but arrive in buoyant mood after a shock 1-0 victory over neighbours Paris Saint-Germain in the Coupe de France earlier this week — a result that underlines the challenge and opportunity awaiting Munetsi in Paris.
