Zimbabwe Get Christmas Boost Ahead Of AFCON Tie

Zimbabwe’s AFCON 2025 campaign has received a timely festive lift, with key players returning to full training ahead of a decisive Group B clash against Angola.

The Zimbabwe national football team are chasing a first-ever Africa Cup of Nations victory when they meet the Angola national football team on Friday afternoon in Marrakech, and preparations have been boosted by the return of several injured regulars.

After missing Monday’s narrow defeat to Egypt, Knowledge Musona and Divine Lunga both rejoined full training, along with midfielder Sean Fusire. Their availability strengthens options across the spine of the side as the Warriors look to bounce back.

In a statement, the Zimbabwe Football Association confirmed the squad completed a high-intensity session from 10:00 to 12:00, noting strong energy and competition throughout camp. All players trained, with the exception of Munashe Garananga, who is being monitored after sustaining a dead leg.

ZIFA added that Musona, Lunga and Fusire completed the entire session with sharpness and confidence, a significant encouragement for the technical team as focus shifts fully to Angola.

With morale high and places up for grabs, Zimbabwe head into Friday’s Group B encounter determined to turn momentum into history at Africa Cup of Nations.
