Warriors Hit by Double Injury Blow as Zemura and Munetsi Spark AFCON Fears

The Warriors’ AFCON preparations have taken another worrying turn after Jordan Zemura suffered a fresh injury scare during Udinese’s 2–1 defeat to Genoa on Monday night.

The left-back was named in the starting XI but lasted only 15 minutes, pulling up with what appeared to be a thigh muscle problem. Italian outlets report that Udinese removed the Zimbabwe international as a precaution, but the club has not yet confirmed the severity of the issue. With AFCON less than two weeks away, national team officials are anxiously awaiting medical updates.

Zemura’s setback comes at a time when head coach Marian Marinica is already grappling with a growing injury list. The biggest blow remains the absence of vice-captain Marshall Munetsi, who is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of six weeks following a muscle tear sustained at Stade de Reims. The midfielder’s prolonged recovery has left the technical team reshuffling tactical plans, as Munetsi had been earmarked for a key leadership and midfield stabilising role in Morocco.

With two key players now in doubt, the Warriors camp is bracing for potentially significant adjustments to their AFCON squad, depending on the medical assessments due in the coming days.
