Super DeMbare Make History Again! Dynamos Clinch Record Third Straight Chibuku Super Cup

Dynamos completed a landmark cup treble on Sunday after edging Triangle United 1–0 in a tense Chibuku Super Cup final at a jam-packed Gibbo Stadium in Chiredzi.

A stunning late strike from substitute Enasio Perezo Jr decided the contest with just 10 minutes left on the clock, sealing an unprecedented third consecutive Chibuku Super Cup title for the Glamour Boys — a feat never achieved before in the competition’s history.

Perezo Jr delivers a moment of magic

The 20-year-old forward, son of former Dynamos player Enasio Perezo, had been on the pitch for barely a dozen minutes when he curled home a sensational effort from the edge of the box. The goal sent the Dynamos section into wild celebrations and ultimately proved the difference on a day Triangle had largely dominated.

“I felt something within me while on the bench — like I would make an impact if I came on,” Perezo Jr revealed. “When the ball came my way, I simply struck it. God did the rest.”

Kaindu’s redemption tale

The triumph hands coach Kelvin Kaindu his first Chibuku Super Cup title, eight years after he narrowly lost the 2017 final with How Mine. Remarkably, Kaindu has transformed Dynamos since taking over in August, steering them to survival in the league and now delivering silverware amid player unrest and disrupted preparations.

“When you don’t play well but still win, that’s the grace of God,” the soft-spoken Zambian mentor reflected.

Chaos, drama & a stadium on its feet

The final kicked off 20 minutes late amid a heated dispute linked to juju allegations over which match balls would be used. Once underway, Dynamos nearly scored early before Triangle settled and took control.

Triangle, chasing their second Chibuku crown after 2018, looked the more assured side in the second half, with Elton Njini and Munashe Bamara repeatedly threatening.

Their hopes took a hit when Dynamo’s goalkeeper Prince Tafiremutsa was stretchered off after suffering a serious injury while saving from Bamara.

Triangle coach Genesis Mangombe — himself targeting a second Chibuku title after winning it with Dynamos in 2023 — admitted the defeat stung but praised his players:
“It’s a final; it can go either way. But we wanted this for our fans.”

Full-circle revenge

The win also allows Kaindu to avenge the 2014 One Wallet Cup final, where Triangle — coached then by Dynamos legend Biggie Zuze — stunned the Glamour Boys.

Ironically, Kaindu is a former Triangle coach himself, having guided the Sugar Boys to fourth place in 2015. His fine run has already sparked interest from title holders Simba Bhora and newly promoted Hardrock ahead of next season.

With this latest triumph, Dynamos now keep the Chibuku Cup permanently, meaning new silverware will have to be commissioned for 2026.
