ZIFA losing US$750,000 by hosting Warriors home matches outside country

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is losing between US$500,000 and US$750,000 in potential revenue per match because Zimbabwe is still forced to host its “home” internationals outside the country.

This was recently disclosed by a parliamentary committee on sports.

The loss of revenue is due to lack of approved stadiums in the country as the National Sports Stadium is still undergoing renovations.

Recently, parliament heard that renovations at the NSS have been going on for three years, with continued missed deadlines.

The acting Sports Minister Tino Machakaire told parliament that the stadium is now 65% complete, with full Confederation of African Football (CAF) approval targeted for June 2026.
