The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) recently announced Mario Marinica as the new Warriors head coach who is expected to take the team forward.
The appointment has since triggered a heated debate among supporters.
Muera Mbizi says: “Someone who was replaced by Kalisto Pasuwa, why not go after Pasuwa then.”
Tendai Nyahinzvi says:
“He is good experience coach. Malawi football Association hired him late and players did not like his new Philosophy, the fast game, and that same Afcon he was hit by Covid after they beat us 2:1 Mwale the assistant Mwale then he took over when he was in isolation with some malawian players was affected also mwale went on and reached the knockout stages n then were beaten by Egypt after his contract Malawi Football Association decided not to renew his contract n then he was hired in liberia where he had unbeaten record in a tight group with Tunisia, senegal , togo.
His new philosophy favour most our players coz most of them they play in England n they will adapt quickly he is not that bad infact he is better than Micheal Nees he is got experience both African football and English football. I am very sure he can pull the strings give him benefit of doubt.”
Aldriencheng Musakwa says: “Baxter was better he knows and has coached a lot of Zim players.”
Kuda Matongo says: “He failed in Malawi and Liberia.”
Lungani Ndlovu says: “A local coach other than Tapera would have been ideal for this job.”
Apparently, ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi expressed joy and trust in the Warriors new coach, saying the team will benefit from newly-appointed coach’s “wealth of experience and modern football philosophy.”
Magwizi said: “We are delighted to welcome Coach Marinica to Zimbabwe.
“His wealth of experience, modern football philosophy, and proven results at international level make him the ideal candidate to lead the Warriors into a new era.
“His appointment reflects ZIFA’s commitment to building a
competitive and sustainable football structure that delivers results both on and off the pitch.”
