The Highlanders coach Pieter De Jongh has clarified his behaviour after his team’s defeat at the hands of main competitor Dynamos in the Chibuku Super Cup semifinal at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
Bosso lost by 5 goals to 3 on penalties after the match had finished one all in regulation time.
The defeat seemingly frustrated Highlanders coach De Jongh, who went on accuse the authorities of treating Dynamos with kids gloves before storming out of the press room.
Apparently, in a statement posted on his X account, the Dutchman said he didn’t mean to undermine the Premier Soccer League, match officials or rival Dynamos.
“Football must always be about fair play and respect that’s what defines the beautiful game.
“My post-match comments after the Chibuku Cup semi-final were never meant to disrespect the PSL, referees or Dynamos.
“I spoke out of passion for the game and fairness – values I will always stand for.
“I fully respect the League and match officials and remain focused on helping Highlanders FC finish the season strong.”
